The device features fall detection, respiratory monitoring, and an AI assistant
Starkey has unveiled the Omega AI, its next-generation flagship hearing aid that blurs the boundaries between an assistive medical device and a sophisticated health tracker.
The brand says the new device combines its most advanced AI-powered sound processing with integrated health tracking features and a generative AI smart assistant.
The core hearing technology, DNN 360, uses a deep neural network to mimic how the human brain processes sound. It also automatically adapts directionality to improve speech clarity in noisy environments, Starkey says, while maintaining spatial awareness.
In addition, this is paired with practical hardware upgrades, including improved waterproofing, a remarkable 51-hour battery life, and new LED indicators that double as a ‘find my hearing aid’ tool.
A more complete hearing aid
Beyond sound, the Omega AI integrates impressive health and safety features typically found in some of the best smartwatches.
It includes fall detection that can automatically alert caregivers, an automatic respiratory rate monitor that runs in the background, and a new Balance Builder feature in the My Starkey app that provides exercises to improve stability and potentially reduce fall risk.
As the name would suggest, Omega AI also incorporates a smart assistant.
Users can interact with the hearing aids using voice commands to ask questions, change settings, get reminders, or even resolve common hearing issues in real-time using the TeleHear AI feature, which Starkey claims has 93% predictive accuracy.
This combination of advanced hearing assistance, proactive health monitoring, and AI-powered convenience positions the Omega AI as a powerful, multi-functional wearable for everyday life. It’s a mature, rounded solution akin to the recently announced Apple AirPods Pro 3, which itself is rapidly developing into a rounded fitness and health tracking wearable.
