The price cut on the latest flagship brings it within striking distance of non-Pro versions
Garmin has permanently adjusted the pricing of its top-tier Fenix 8 Pro collection, specifically targeting the flagship models equipped with MicroLED displays and cellular connectivity.
The high-end 51mm MicroLED version, which launched six months ago at a prohibitively expensive $1,999, has been slashed by $300 (to $1,699).
Meanwhile, the ‘entry-level’ 47mm MicroLED model has also been reduced to $1,199. This dramatically shrinks the gap between the standard AMOLED Fenix 8 and the more advanced display technology, which offers superior brightness and efficiency.
By lowering the entry point for MicroLED, Garmin is likely aiming to accelerate the adoption of the display tech ahead of a wider rollout in the expected Fenix 9 series later this year.
Coming soon to other markets?
Interestingly, though, the price cut hasn’t yet hit Europe or the UK just yet, and the standard AMOLED versions haven’t seen a corresponding drop.
This suggests Garmin is testing the waters of its most premium tier in the US, perhaps to clear inventory or to solidify its lead in the ultra-premium category, where Apple’s Watch Ultra 3 currently dominates the $799–$999 range. The timing also aligns with the recent debut of the Quatix 8 Pro, Garmin’s marine-focused variant.

By pulling the Fenix 8 Pro MicroLED down to a $1,200–$1,300 price point, Garmin is making its most advanced do-everything watch significantly more attainable for the hardcore demographic that might otherwise consider a mid-range or last-gen Fenix.
For American consumers, at least, this is the first real sign that MicroLED—still a bit of a one-off luxury concept display—may have to move closer to existing AMOLED pricing to gain traction. And with other brands likely preparing their own equivalents, this could have a knock-on effect on the outdoor and sports watch launches we see later in 2026.
For now, however, we’ll simply keep our eyes peeled to see if this one expands to other regions.
