The discount on each plan lowers the cost of commitment—but choosing the right tier is the real route to saving cash
Deals on Whoop’s wearables and platform involve complications. Ultimately, unlike with the other Black Friday deals we’re covering this year, choosing Whoop means subscribing to an ecosystem, not just buying hardware.
On Amazon right now, the company is offering up to 17% off its annual memberships. It’s undoubtedly a good saving for a subscription product—even if, totted up over the likely lifecycle of a device, it’s one of the most costly wearables on the market.
And since there’s often confusion about which Whoop features are available in each tier (and whether Whoop 5 or MG is the right fit for you), my advice is this: the mid-tier Whoop Peak membership (discounted to $199 for the year, down from $239) is the best fit for most people.
That was my verdict after reviewing the Whoop 5.0/MG—and the top tier, Life—back in May. And despite the brand delivering on the promise of Advanced Labs through recent rollouts, and using the device daily since before it even launched, it’s still the case now.
Why we recommend avoiding the ‘Life’ and ‘One’ tiers
The ‘Life’ tier (which includes the MG hardware) is for a more niche audience: those who need medical-grade features, such as the on-demand ECG Heart Screener. Unless you have a known heart condition or a specific medical directive, the extra cost of the top tier isn’t worth the $120 a year (or $100 with these Black Friday savings).
Meanwhile, the entry-level Whoop One membership tier just isn’t enough of a discount—only $20 this Black Friday—to justify the loss of insights you can gain on the step up, Whoop Peak.
This tier comes with the standard Whoop 5.0 tracker and unlocks extra insights, including Healthspan (your ‘Whoop Age’ and Pace of Aging), the Health Monitor, and the real-time Stress Monitor. It’s the ideal sweet spot for most people looking into Whoop.
And for those who haven’t yet made the upgrade, a quick aside: the battery life of 5.0 and MG (as well as those Healthspan insights unlocked via Peak) is reason alone to upgrade to the current-gen platform.
The bottom line
Whatever the case, the discount across all tiers lowers the overall commitment cost for new users, making it the most affordable entry to the platform all year. And, as we’ve consistently stated in wider coverage—like the best trackers for the gym and non-watch wearables—Whoop remains the best premium pick on the market.
Just make sure you’re careful about which tier you select. Whoop lets you upgrade or downgrade your package, so the jeopardy isn’t necessarily dire if you get this decision wrong. But to save yourself some hassle and cash, we think it’s hard to go wrong by starting with the Peak membership this Black Friday.
