The new ultra-premium smartwatch is a China-exclusive edition focused on luxury materials and durability
Huawei has refreshed its ultra-premium smartwatch line in its home market with the introduction of the Watch Ultimate Design.
This new model arrives just two months after the launch of the Watch Ultimate 2, but it distinguishes itself by incorporating 18-carat gold detailing into the already high-end construction.
The Watch Ultimate Design maintains the same core hardware as its predecessor, featuring a 1.5-inch LTPO AMOLED display (466 x 466 pixels) with peak brightness of 3,500 nits. It uses a blend of ceramic and zirconium for its case materials and offers 150m waterproofing (20 ATM).
Powering the watch is Huawei’s in-house Kirin W80 chipset, which is rated to deliver up to 11 days of battery life in power-saving mode or 3 days with the always-on display enabled.

The device includes robust health and connectivity features, such as LTE, UWB, BeiDou satellite connectivity, and a health suite capable of taking an ECG and monitoring skin temperature. The new ‘Extraordinary Master Purple Gold’ edition retails for a staggering CNY 24,999 (approximately $3,529) in China, with no confirmation on international availability.
The Wareable take
Huawei’s strategy here is clearly aimed at the high-end luxury market, positioning its watch as a pure status symbol rather than a competitor to anything in the mass market.
The use of gold and extreme pricing places it in a different league entirely, similar to high-end traditional watch brands. It’s a similar tactic employed by Ultrahuman, which launched the $1,900 18K gold Rare smart ring at the start of 2025.
While the underlying tech is unchanged here from Huawei, the price tag and the lack of international availability suggest this model is designed purely to showcase the brand’s engineering and luxury ambitions in China. So, a showcase, but a fun one nonetheless.
