The super-slim smartwatch has been announced in China with ECG support and a 3,000-nit display
Oppo has officially unveiled the Watch S in China, a new smartwatch that—if history is any guide— could serve as the blueprint for the next-generation OnePlus release for the global market.
The new watch is a significant refinement of the existing design, packing powerful new health sensors into a dramatically thinner and lighter case.
The Watch S features a sleek metal body that’s just 8.9mm thick and weighs a mere 35g—roughly a quarter thinner and lighter than its predecessor.
It also boasts a round, 1.46-inch AMOLED display with an impressive peak brightness of 3,000 nits, putting it on par with the very brightest screens on the market, like that of the Apple Watch Ultra 3.
Oppo claims a battery life of up to four days with the always-on display (AOD) active, and ten days in a power-saving mode. Again, if that performance were to transfer to a future OnePlus release running Wear OS, that would see it comfortably be the best-performing ‘true’ smartwatch on the market in terms of staying power.
On the health front, the Watch S is a major step up, incorporating an ECG and a skin temperature sensor for the first time in the line. Standard heart rate and SpO2 sensors, a dual-frequency GPS module for outdoor tracking, and an NFC chip for contactless payments complete the array.
An early preview of a 2026 OnePlus release?
While an international launch under the Oppo brand is uncertain, this is a potential preview for fans of sibling brand OnePlus.
As we say, Oppo’s recent domestic watch releases have almost always served as direct previews for what its subsidiary launches in the UK, Europe, and other regions.
We’ve been impressed with the moves OnePlus has made in 2025; it built on the solid Watch 2 with an even better Watch 3 back in February before finally offering a smaller case size via the latest generation earlier this summer.
The super-slim design and advanced health sensors of this new Oppo Watch S would represent a fantastic evolution for the OnePlus lineup in 2026, positioning it as an even stronger competitor to the likes of Samsung and Google in the Wear OS stable.
For now, though, only time will tell what Oppo has planned; stay tuned for more updates.
