If you refuse to get on board with Garmin's AMOLED displays, this is the Fenix I recommend
If you’re craving the reliable MIP display of an older generation Fenix, this Black Friday deal on the Fenix 7 Pro (47mm, Sapphire) is the only one you need to check.
This former flagship is currently available for $449.99 after a 50% discount, making it cheaper than most mid-range Forerunners. That’s very hard to ignore.
As ever, when shopping for older-generation devices, though, this recommendation here comes with a bit of urgency. Released in 2023, this SKU has already been through the Black Friday wringer once before—and we’re now seeing tons of variations of the Fenix 7 Pro unavailable on multiple retailers.
That means stock is likely minimal here. It’s always difficult to know, but, from previous experience, I’d guess it’s unlikely to return at this price—and, if there’s a rush or flash deal, it may not even be available in next month’s Boxing Day sales.
So, if you’re serious about picking up a cheap Fenix this Black Friday, you could do a lot worse than this one. In fact, as I’ve already detailed in this particular Garmin Fenix 8 deal, I’d actually recommend this specific 7 Pro variant over the countless others—and not just for the price.
Why this specific Fenix 7 Pro beats out its siblings
Why this specific model over a standard Fenix 7? Well, the ‘Pro’ model was a sneakily significant upgrade, bringing crucial features that make it feel far more modern:
- LED flashlight: This feature—standard on the Fenix 7 Pro and Fenix 8, but not on the Fenix 7—is incredibly useful and is something you’ll quickly wonder how you lived without
- Elevate V5 HR sensor: The upgraded heart rate sensor provides slightly better accuracy in some workouts, and enables features like ECG and skin temperature sensing
- Improved display: The 7 Pro’s MIP screen quality is better than the base Fenix 7’s—even if it’s not as good, in our opinion, as AMOLED
Next, you have to consider why it’s better than other Fenix 7 Pro variants.
Well, in short, you get the Sapphire Solar glass—which, strangely, is currently much cheaper than the standard Solar edition, making it a no-brainer. But this is also the 47mm model, which is the right fit for 90% of people.
So, if you’re simply trying to find the best cheap Fenix this Black Friday, I wouldn’t look any further than this deal.
