Available in March, the special edition is a throwback to the 1998 Suunto Vector
To celebrate nine decades of outdoor watch heritage, Suunto has unveiled the Vertical 2 Titanium Limited Edition.
While the internal hardware is identical to the standard Vertical 2 that launched in late 2025, this 90th-anniversary model leans heavily into nostalgia.
The watch features a unique yellow-and-black design and a custom dial that pays direct tribute to the Suunto Vector—the 1998 classic that introduced the “ABC” (Altimeter, Barometer, Compass) category to the mountaineering world.
Only 1,936 units of the new edition be produced, a nod to Suunto’s founding year.
The watch retains the massive 1.5-inch AMOLED display, 65 hours of GPS battery life, and solar charging capabilities of the original Vertical 2. It will also retail for €799 (approximately $850/£700) and go on sale on March 10, 2026.
The Wareable take
Suunto’s strategy here mirrors what we’ve seen plenty of times in the mechanical watch world (and over the last few years from Garmin with its Marq line): selling the story as much as the sensors.
And in the ultra-competitive sports watch market, where Suunto is constantly fighting for air against Garmin’s massive range, leaning into its 90-year history is a smart move.
The Vertical 2 is already a great piece of kit, but, by limiting this edition to 1,936 units, Suunto is creating artificial scarcity that appeals to the “outdoor collector” demographic.
It’s a low-risk, high-reward way to keep the Vertical 2 in the headlines six months after its initial launch.
